Hey Carol!
We just wanted to send you an Abby update! Things are going really good. We never really
figured out why she is having seizures, we had her blood work done and there was no abnormality there so the vet just advised
that we keep a close eye on her (which is not hard since she is the center of our life) and keep her on a low fat diet.
The blood work showed that her triglycerides were high and the vet said it is possible that that is what is
causing the seizures. Recently we got a second opinion. This second vet said that it is common in her bread
to have a congenital cause for the seizures. We have been logging when she has them and how long they last.
Right now the vet does not feel like she needs to be on medication for the seizures but we will keep watching.
She picked up a little ring worm infection on her ears that we are also treating her for, but other
than that she is very healthy and seems to be pretty happy!
My parents have a lab and Abby got to meet her "cousin" over the Christmas break. I was a little concerned
because Abby can be timid in front of strangers and Shiner (the lab) is very playful even though he is 6 years old, but they
got along really well! Abby had a great time playing. My parents couldn't get over what a wonderful dog she is.
If you can't tell, we are super happy with her and I think she loves us as much as we love her. I
have attached a recent picture of she and I. Unfortunately we couldn't get Joe in the picture but hopefully we will
be taking a family picture soon. :)
I hope you and the other dogs you are rescueing are doing good. Thank you for setting us up with the
most perfect dog in the world for us. We love her!
Sincerely,
Julie and Joe
