New Leash on Life! Rescue is a all volunteer "no kill",
soon to be 501(c)(3), non-profit private rescue organization based in Somerset, Texas. We specialize in finding homes for
both purebred and mixed breed dogs. All of our "little furry friends" are treated as family until we locate the perfect
adoptive home.
We do require you to fill out an adoption application FIRST!! REMEMBER we are NOT a shelter, we are a RESCUE with an ALL VOLUNTEER STAFF, so you can not
visit WITHOUT an appointment!!
At 'New Leash on Life!', we are dedicated to the American Eskimo Dog...often
more frequently called "Eskies" or “Spitz”. American Eskimo dogs are lovingly nicknamed “Eskies” for
short by their owners. According to AKC regulations, Eskies will only have white or cream/bisque colored coats and come in
three sizes….the standard (15"-19" - at shoulder), the miniature (12"-15"), and the toy (9"-12"). The name "Spitz”
is only a description of a "group of breeds with similar characteristics", NOT the actual the breed of dog. Some of the other
breeds included in the Spitz group are the German Wolfspitz, Zwergspitz, or Dwarf Spitz, Keeshonden Finnish Spitz, and Pomeranians.
All of these can be white, black, brown, wolfgray and orange or golden in color.
Although, we specialize in the breed American Eskimo dogs, we have
had an influx of mix-breed dogs that have needed help so we have answered to that need! We have many abandoned mix-breed dogs
in our rescue and other rescues that are in need of homes.
Most of our dogs are showcased on our online shelter through Petfinder.com. More often then not, depending on our adoption volume,
some dogs, like those undergoing medical treatment, or not ready for adoption yet may not shown on our Petfinder.com listing.
So be sure to let us know what sort of dog you really are searching for, as we might have dogs who not on our site for
various reasons.
All of our rescues begin training with the basic obedience
commands and are treated as family members until we can find them the perfect "forever" home like yours! Although most of
our rescue dogs already know come, sit, and wait....some may take a bit longer and will need you to continue the training.
By filling out an adoption application, we can help you located
the right dog for you. Please ask us about a certain breeds if you do not see what you are searching for, as we may be able
to help you find a companion.
If you can't find the perfect dog here for you, or your family...we can contact
other rescues to help other pups find the perfect home with you....email us and we will try to help you find your special
little "furry friend"...even if it is in another rescue!
Our rescue is here to help all of the American Eskimos needs. Over the
years we have given our pups new wonderful lives, away from the horrible conditions that they had endured and have found relaxing,
wonderful, supportive homes for them.
We believe all dogs deserves their dream home. We are here to
serve our rescues in their many needs, and make them the top priority when helping them.
Our rescue has been helping all breed of dogs find homes for several
years. We understand that they need our help and we want to help you find the right pup for your home!
